WEST POINT, N.Y. - The UMass Swimming and Diving teams both fell to Army on Friday, as Army was just too much for UMass to handle. The women lost a close battle, 123-120, while the men fell 178.50-64.50.

The Minutewomen were led by strong performances from Christa Narus (Stony Brook, N.Y.). Narus placed first in both the 200-yard IM (2:12.25) and the 200-yard fly (2:09.34).

Also for the Minutewomen, Taryn Prout (West Springfield, Mass.) won the 1000-yard free in 10:44.03 and Aimee Bourassa (Ottawa, Ontario) took first in the 500-yard free (5:16.33). In diving, Karen Upperco took first place in the three-meter dive with a score of 270.75, while also placing second in the one-meter with a 241.80 score.

On the men's side, RJ Rappe (Farmington, Minn.) placed first in the one-meter dive with a 248.03 score. Rappe also took second in the three-meter dive (270.38).

The Minutemen also had three strong second place performances. Greg Chartier (Amherst, Mass.) took second in the 200-yard free (1:45.99). AJ Vozella (Weymouth, Mass.) took second in the 50-yard free (22.20) and Nate Bromage (Three Rivers, Mass.) placed second in the 200-yard fly (1:57.41).

The Men and Women return to action on December 12, 2005 at the Rutgers Super Splash Diving Invitational and the Brown Invitational.
