Two Minutewomen Earn Conference Honors

AMHERST, Mass. - Sophomore midfielder Kerri Connerty (Nashua, N.H.) of the women's lacrosse team and sophomore Dorothy Iwanowicz (Hilton Head, S.C.) of the women's tennis team were each named Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week in their respective sports.
Connerty scored seven goals in two games this week, including the game-winner over Duquesne University, ending UMass' six-game skid. In that game, she notched three goals on five shots, scooped up one groundball and caused a Duke turnover. In Wednesday's 19-13 loss at UConn, she scored four goals on six shots and collected two groundballs. Connerty is currently the third-leading scorer on the team, netting 12 goals on 33 shots and assisting on four more tallies, for a total of 16 points. She has now logged four multiple-point games and three multiple-goal games.
Iwanowicz went undefeated in three matches this week, dropping only three games along the way. In the team's 7-0 victory at Rhode Island, she won the #3 singles match, 6-0, 6-2, and the #2 doubles, 8-1. Just three days later, Iwanowicz swept her opponent at Fordham, 6-0, 6-0, this time in the #5 singles match. She now owns a singles record of 9-4, and is undefeated against Atlantic 10 opponents this spring.
Connerty and the women's lacrosse team will be back in action on Friday, April 9, as they travel to Richmond for a 3:00 p.m. matchup with the Spiders. Iwanowicz and the women's tennis team is slotted to host Holy Cross on Tuesday, April 6, at 2:30 p.m.
