HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth College women's lacrosse team scored 10 of the first 11 goals en route to a 13-3 victory over Massachusetts on Wednesday afternoon at Scully-Fahey Field. The Big Green improve to 6-1 on the season with the win, while the Minutewomen fall to 1-6.

Dartmouth jumped out to a quick start in the first three minutes, as Suzy Gibbons, Amy Frazier and Lana Smith all scored to hand the Big Green a 3-0 advantage. UMass sophomore midfielder Kelli Kurtz (Schwenksville, Pa.) answered with a free position goal that cut her team's deficit to 3-1, but the hosts responded with the final three scores of the half.

Molly Jenkins, Jen Newitt and Liz Merritt each scored once before the intermission to give Dartmouth a 6-1 lead.

Smith completed her hat trick by scoring the first two goals of the second half. Gibbons followed with her second tally of the day before a goal from Alison Moulin increased the Big Green lead to 10-1. Freshman Miriam Godfrey (Lexington, Mass.) then made it 10-2 before Gibbons netted her third and fourth goals of the afternoon. A goal from Kate Cole capped off Dartmouth's scoring, while Godfrey's second of the game with just under a minute remaining did the same for UMass.

Senior co-captain Jen Nardi (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) stopped 10 shots for UMass before being relieved by sophomore Cyndi Doyle (Bridgewater, Vt.), who made four saves. Sarah Hughes denied six Minutewomen shots on the afternoon.

UMass returns to action on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. for its Atlantic 10 opener against St. Joseph's. The Minutewomen will remain in Philadelphia through Sunday, as they will face Temple on Sunday at noon in the back end of the weekend pair.
