AMHERST, Mass. -- Junior Rachel Ingraffea (Ithaca, N.Y.) scored four goals to lead the University of Massachusetts women's lacrosse team to a 13-12 victory over New Hampshire this afternoon on Garber Field.

New Hampshire was leading 4-3 with five minutes remaining in the first half before UMass scored three straight goals to take a 7-4 halftime lead. The Minutewomen opened the second half with goals from freshman Lydia Robinson (Summit, N.J.), her second of the game, and junior Fay Naber (Suffern, N.Y.) to take an 8-4 lead.

The Wildcats responded with three consecutive goals to cut the UMass lead to 8-7. The Minutewomen got two back thanks to scores from Ingraffea and senior Noelle Gorski (Cicero, N.Y.), her second of the game. Following a New Hampshire goal, Ingraffea netted her third and fourth goals of the game to give UMass a 12-8 lead with 11:39 remaining in regulation time.

With just under 10 minutes to play, senior Melissa Miele (Drexel Hill, Pa.) scored to give UMass a 13-8 lead before New Hampshire scored the final four goals of the game. The Wildcats had a chance to even the score when they were awarded a free position with 21 seconds remaining, but UMass goaltender Jen Nardi (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) made a stick save to end the game.

Senior co-captain Rebecca Minaker (Newton, Mass.) opened the scoring at the 25:12 mark of the first half. Senior Stephanie Pavlick (Blue Bell, Pa.) followed with her first of two goals on the game at the 22:10 mark.

UMass returns to action this Saturday when it travels to Hempstead, N.Y. to face Hofstra. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m.
