Women's Swimming and Diving Falls to Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Minutewoman swimming and diving team lost 216-127 to Syracuse on Saturday afternoon at Archbold Pool on the Syracuse campus. It was the first loss of the year for the women, who fall to 5-1.
Sophomore Andrea Kazanjian (Troy, N.Y.), swimming in her home state, won both the 50y and 100y-fly in times of 26.53 and 58.95, respectively. Fellow sophomore Anne Dettloff (Barrington, Ill.) won the 500y-free in 5:08.05. In diving, freshman Kate Allery (South Hadley, Mass.) claimed victory in the one-meter with a score of 360.67, fourth best in school history for 10 dives. Junior Robin Velona (Belmont, Mass.) posted a career-best score of 388.57 for second place in the three-meter event. Velona?s score is the sixth best in school history.
The team returns to the pool this Saturday at 12:00 p.m., against rival UConn. The meet will be the last for the team until after the New Year.
