Women's Swimming And Diving Falls To Connecticut, 137-106

AMHERST, Mass.- The University of Massachusetts women?s swimming and diving team fell to Connecticut, 137-106 on Saturday afternoon, at UMass? Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool. The Minutemen now have a 5-2 dual meet record on the season.
Sophomore Anne Dettloff (Barrington, Ill.) won the 200-y free (1:56.73) and the 500-y free (5:11.90) for UMass. Sophomore Andrea Kazanjian (Troy, N.Y.) placed first in the 50-y free with a time of 25.02 and in the 100-y free with a time of 54.05, while senior Elizabeth Risotto (Setauket, N.Y.) won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:06.01, which ranks second on the UMass career chart. The 200-y free relay team of Kazanjian, Dettloff, freshman Molly Buckley (Taunton, Mass.) and senior Andrea Spencer (Wilmington, Del.) ended the meet with a winning time of 1:38.17.
UConn senior Taryn Smith dominated the two diving events, winning the one-meter with a score of 262.65, and the three-meter with a score of 271.05.
The Minutewomen will return to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 8, when they travel to Miami to take on the Miami Hurricanes at 11:00 a.m.
