Men's Soccer Tops George Washington 3-1

AMHERST, Mass. - Fred Kinateder (Waukesha, Wis.) scored twice and Adam Black (San Jose, Calif.) added an insurance goal with less than three minutes to play, as the University of Massachusetts men?s soccer team downed George Washington 3-1 on Friday afternoon at Totman Field. Evan Nierman scored for George Washington (2-7-1, 1-3).
Nierman started the scoring at 28:00, driving home a shot from about six yards away on the right side. Kinateder tied the scoring at 31:40, knocking in a loose ball in front. He added his second of the game and his fourth in the last two matches, after taking a pass from James Redmond (Springfield, Mass.), and beating Colonial goalkeeper Nick Parypinski at 72:10. The goal proved to be the game-winner, Kinateder?s second of the season. Black added the insurance goal, an unassisted goal, at 87:07.
Todd Fowler (Clifton Park, N.Y.) made three saves in the win for UMass (8-4, 3-1). Parypinski stopped eight shots in defeat for George Washington. UMass, which has now won three straight games for the second time this season, will host Virginia Tech on Sunday at Totman Field. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
