Jay Yankowski joins the Minutewomen staff as an assistant coach after a standout four-year career for UMass. A 2005 graduate of Massachusetts, Yankowski is no stranger to the women[apos]s swimming and diving program. The Turners Falls native will assist head coach Bob Newcomb in every phase of daily operations, practice, and recruiting.

AS A SWIMMER
2004-05: Served as a tri-captain for the 2004-05 season.

2003-04: At the Atlantic 10 Championships (2/21), swam 18:28.93 to finish 21st in the 1,650-yard freestyle ... against Fordham (1/31) finished fifth in 11:19.08 in the 1,000-yard freestyle ... at Boston College (1/24), finished fifth in the 1,000-yard free (11:30.07) and fifth in the 500-yard free (5:36.26) ... finished 10th in the 1,000-yard free (11:28.12) and 13th in the 500-yard free (5:35.87) at Rhode Island (1/10) ... swam a 18:48.20 in the 1,650-yard free for a sixth-place finish and a 12th-place 5:30.99 in the 500-yard free at the Nutmeg Invitational (12/5) ... against St. John[apos]s (11/22), took sixth-place in the 1,000-yard free (11:37.44) ... recorded a sixth-place finish in the 500-yard free (5:42.20) against Boston University (11/8) ... took sixth in the 1,000-yard free (11:41.21) at New Hampshire (10/25). 2002-03: Placed 21st in the 1,650-yard free (18:33.82) at the Atlantic 10 Championships ... ranked second on the team in both the 1,000-yard free (11:08.70,) and the 1,650-yard free (18:33.82), fifth in the 500-yard free (5:25.94), and sixth in the 200-yard free (2:01.55), all posted at the Atlantic 10 Championships ... ranked 10th in the 100-yard free (59.50 at Northeastern). 2001-02: Placed 22nd in the 1,650-yard free at the Atlantic 10 Championships ... ranked fifth on the team in the 1,650-yard free (18:50.65 at Atlantic 10 Championships), seventh in the 500-yard free (5:30.80 at the Rhode Island Invitational), the 1,000-yard free (11:25.61 at the Rhode Island Invitational) and the 200-yard free (2:03 at A-10[apos]s). Before UMass: Four-year letterwinner at Turners Falls (Mass.) High School ... set school records in the 400-yard free relay, 400-yard medley relay, 200-yard IM and 500-yard free ... three-time team captain ... four-time All-Western Massachusetts and All-State performer ... four-time team Most Valuable Player. Personal: Born November 4, 1982, in Greenfield, Mass. ... daughter of Jamie and Nancy Yankowski ... majoring in psychology.
