Hobie Hare begins his second season with the Minutemen as an assistant coach after being hired prior to the 2005 season. Hare[apos]s responsibilities inlcude working with UMass in all aspects of recruiting, practice organization and camp management along with daily coaching duties.

A three-year standout at Rider from 1996-99, the Princeton, N.J. native will assist the men[apos]s soccer program in all facets of training management, recruiting, and daily operations.

Prior to coming to UMass, Hare worked three seasons as a volunteer coach for both the men[apos]s and women[apos]s teams at Rider.

After graduating from Rider, he played professionally for two seasons with the Hershey Wildcats (1999) and with the New Jersey Stallions (1999-00).

At Rider Hare started 63 games helping the Broncs to two NCAA Tournament berths (1997, 1998). He was twice named to the All-MAAC Team. In 1998 he was honored as a member of the MAAC Tournament Team.

Hare is a USSF licensed coach, NSCAA National License, and is a certified personal trainer.
