He joins the Minutemen after working for two seasons as a member of the Utica College men[apos]s soccer coaching staff where he served as former head coach, Joe Calabrese[apos]s, top assistant coach. In the Spring of 2011, he served as the Interim Head Coach for the Utica Pioneers leading them to two victories during the non traditional spring season including a win against Division II power Lemoyne.
Perron is a 2006 graduate of Colby-Sawyer College in New London, N.H., where he earned a bachelor of science in sport management. From 2006-2008, Perron served as an assistant coach at his alma mater Wilbraham and Monson Academy in Wilbraham, Mass. The squad finished in the top five among New England Preparatory Schools in each of his three seasons. The 2007 season concluded with a New England Tournament Championship.
As a player, Perron was a four-year starter, team captain, twice an All-Commonwealth Coast Conference selection and runner up for TCCC rookie of the year at Colby-Sawyer College. He was the Chargers[apos] Most Valuable Player his junior season and finished his career 2nd all-time in school history in victories.
Perron has an extensive background of professional playing experience. From 2006-2009, he was a member of the United Soccer League 2nd Division Western Mass Pioneers. Perron also played professionally with the Massachusetts Twisters formerly of the American Indoor Soccer League and former member of the National Indoor Soccer League. His most recent playing experience came this past summer, where he rejoined the Western Mass Pioneers, now of the United Soccer leagues PDL level. Perron put together a solid season in goal helping lead the team to a berth in the U.S. Open Cup and a top three finish in their conference. During the summer of 2010 he was named the captain and primary starting goalkeeper for the Albany Highlanders ofthe PDL. He compiled a 6-2-1 record with the club as a starter including three shutouts also helping lead the team to a top three finish. He served as the team[apos]s primary goalkeeping coach for the clubs other two goalkeepers.
Before UMass, Perron served as an athlete recruiter for Velocity Sports Performance. He managed all aspects of the inside and outside sales operation as well as negotiated training contracts with local soccer, lacrosse, and football clubs. In addition, he managed to substantially grow accounts and increase sales for Soccer City in Wilbraham, MA.
He currently holds his NSCAA [quote]National[quote] Diploma.
