Mike Vaughan came to the University of Massachusetts as a sports performance coach in September 2023 after serving as the director of women's ice hockey operations at Merrimack since the program’s inaugural season in 2015-16 and served as the team’s strength and conditioning coach during his tenure with the Warriors.
Vaughan worked with the USA Women's National Hockey Team as an assistant strength and conditioning coach from 2014-16 and was the strength coach for the IIHF U18 Gold Medalist team. He served as a strength and conditioning/nutrition intern for the 2014 USA Women's Olympic Hockey Silver Medalist Team in Sochi.
Vaughan also spent time as a strength coach at Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning and interned at Northeastern as a part of their strength and conditioning staff.
He boasts a certification from the NSCA as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He also is USAW Level 1 Sports Performance Coach, FMS Level 1 Coach and American Red Cross CPR/AED & First Aid certified.
Vaughan is a 2013 graduate of Fitchburg State with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise & Sport Science, where he played football. He also graduated with a M.S. in Exercise and Sports Science from Merrimack in the spring of 2018.
