AMHERST, Mass. — The University of Massachusetts fell to No. 23 Princeton, 2-0, on Rudd Field on Monday afternoon. On a perfect weather day, Massachusetts set a new home attendance record of 2,079 since officially tracked dating back to the 2010-11 season.

Despite the loss, Linden continued his superior junior campaign in the net, totaling five saves of the seven shots on goal from the Tigers. Linden brings his season total to 24 saves with a 72.7 save percentage, allowing just 1.8 goals per contest.

Despite recording its most shots in a game this season and second-most shots on goal, Massachusetts offensive unit was kept at bay, resulting in its first shutout of the season.

Sophomore walk-on Theodore Allenby also entered his first career game, rounding out the final four minutes of the contest.

The contest began with physical play, as the teams combined for three fouls before the 11th minute.
A slide tackle in the 11th minute led to a yellow card on Taylon Gayle.
Princeton recorded the first shot on goal in the 15th minute, directly into the waiting arms on Linden for his first save of the contest.
UMass was able to get off consecutive shots in the 22nd minute, but strong goalie play by Andrew Samuels resulted in a save and missed shot for the Minutemen, keeping the game knotted at zero.
Princeton opened the scoring in the 27th minute, on a cross feed from the right side of the field perfectly set up Jackson Martin for a top left goal to give the Tigers a 1-0 advantage.
Gayle picked up his second yellow card of the contest, bumping it up to a red and eliminating him from the contest with five seconds remaining in the first half.
Princeton quickly netted its second goal of the contest in the 57th minute, taking a 2-0 lead.
The Tigers rattled off nine shots over the next 20 minutes of gameplay, but solid defense from the Minutemen and a pair of saves from Linden kept Princeton off the board.
Each team recorded a yellow card in the 86th and 87th minute.
