Trio Named UMass Student-Athletes Of The Week

Perry and Tirado of baseball, and Prizzi of women’s lacrosse will be honored on Wednesday.
AMHERST, Mass. – Sam Perry and Anthony Tirado of baseball, and Norah Prizzi of women's lacrosse were named UMass Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by UMassFive College Credit Union. The trio will be honored at the UMass Sports Luncheon this week.
The luncheon takes place on Wednesday, April 29, at noon in the Berkshire Room of the Berkshire Dining Commons. Cost to attend is $17 (15.30 for UMass Alumni).
Perry earned his first career win in the 8-6 victory in the series finale at Ball State on Sunday. The freshman had a 0.00 ERA after allowing no runs through seven complete innings. He gave up six hits, walked two and struck out three, facing 27 batters.
Tirado totaled a .526 batting average, a .560 on-base percentage and a .737 slugging percentage on the week. The redshirt sophomore tallied 10 hits, including two doubles and a triple, in 19 at-bats. He posted four runs and eight RBI on the week, while walking four times and striking out only three times. Tirado had 14 total bases and had two steals on the week. Against CCSU, he had one hit, one run and a stolen base. Tirado recorded two hits, which included a double, and three RBI vs. Stonehill. In game one at Ball State, he went 4-for-6 with a double and a triple, while recording his 100th career hit in the game, and added two RBI and a run, as he totaled seven bases, and stole one. Game two of the series at Ball State saw him go 2-for-3 with two runs and two walks. In the series finale, Tirado tallied a hit and three RBI.
In the field, Tirado had 15 putouts, 15 assists and two errors. In game one at Ball State, he had five assists, while posting six putouts in game two at Ball State.
Prizzi had a sensational Senior Day, posting a career high seven points via three goals and a career-high four assists. Her seven points marked a game high as well. She had all seven points by 4:18 into the third quarter of the contest. One of the goals was a behind-the-back beauty to give the Minutewomen an early 6-0 advantage. It marked Prizzi's sixth straight multi-point game. She now owns 35 points on the season behind 15 goals and 20 assists.
