Massachusetts Athletics Integrates The Massachusetts Collective

The change will streamline processes and means of support for UMass student-athletes
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Athletics Department will assume operational responsibilities for Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) initiatives previously managed by the Massachusetts Collective. As part of the transition, the Massachusetts Collective will cease operations, creating a unified approach to supporting UMass student-athletes through the evolving NIL landscape.
The change will streamline processes and means of support for UMass student-athletes, while also simplifying the administration of NIL agreements relative to approvals from the College Sports Commission. The move is part of a growing trend among FBS institutions.

"We are tremendously grateful for the hard work, energy and professionalism with which Patrick MacWilliams developed and operated the Massachusetts Collective over the past several years as he helped navigate the beginning stages of NIL," said Director of Athletics Ryan Bamford. "Patrick built a dedicated, member-based organization and we want to thank all who supported the Massachusetts Collective. Given the revenue sharing and NIL evolution over the last year, we have made terrific progress with the Script U Scholarship Society rollout allowing us to resource our coaches and student-athletes to win championships in this new era."
