Women's Track and Field Dominates at Ken O'Brien Championship Prep

AMHERST, Mass. — The University of Massachusetts women's track and field team had a strong weekend of competition Ken O'Brien Championship Prep meet. The Minutemen dominated the Ken O'Brien meet.

The Minutewomen return to action for the Larry Ellis Invitational and Jay Carisella Coaches Invitational on May 1-2.
Highlights from Competition:
- Tesaira Williams placed third in the women's high jump with a clear of 5'3". Marielsa McBride placed fourth with a clear of the same height.
- Megan Frazee placed third in the women's pole vault with a leap of 11'4.25". Maia Perillo paced fifth with a clear of 10'10.25".
- Bridget Lee placed second in the women's long jump with a leap of 17'10.5".
- Tolu Odetola won the women's triple jump with a leap of 40'7.75". Her jump moved her into fourth in women's indoor program history. Shakira Cadet placed third with a jump of 38'2.25", and Ruth Michel rounded out the top five with a jump of 36'10.25".
- Four Minutewomen placed within the top-8 of the women's shot put, with Natalie Krysta leading the way with a toss of 42'8.25" to secure second. Mattie Bishop (5th), Eve Segal (7th) and Tesaira Williams (8th) followed with throws of 42'0.25", 40'7" and 40'2", respectively.
- Coco Van Nynatten won the women's discus throw with a toss of 152'10". Mattie Bishop placed seventh with a throw of 124'9", and Eve Segal placed ninth with a toss of 122'2".
- Van Nyatten also placed second in the women's javelin with a throw of 132'7". Tesaira Williams placed eighth with a toss of 80'11".
- Lara Mannes Diaz de Cerio placed third in the women's 1500m run with a time of 4:24.79. Agnes Thundal placed fourth with a time of 4:24.85, Allison Chmielewski placed seventh with a finish of 4:28.63 and Anna McElhinney placed ninth with a 4:34.37.
- Ashley Johnson and Leila Metres took the top two spots in the women's 400m dash with times of 55.25 and 56.79.
- Jillian Strynar placed first in the women's 100m dash with a time of 12.12. Chloe Guthrie placed third with a finish of 12.54.
- The combination of Tesaira Williams and Jennifer Willams took the top two spots in the women's 100m hurdles with times of 14.18 and 14.35.
- Simeone Harrison placed second in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:15.51. Skylar Fox rounded out the top five with a time of 2:16.66.
- Jillian Strynar won the women's 200m dash with a time of 24.56. Ali Murphy placed second with a time of 25.56. Leila Metres placed fourth with a finish of 25.71 and Chloe Guthrie placed seventh with a time of 26.02.
