Massachusetts Baseball Falls To Toledo In Game Two

The series finale is slated for 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 8.
TOLEDO, Ohio - University of Massachusetts baseball fell to Toledo, 11-1, on Saturday afternoon at Scott Park.
UMass moved to 4-4 overall on the season and 0-2 in the Mid-American Conference, while Toledo improved to 5-8 overall and 2-0 in MAC play.
Reece McCarthy went 2-for-3 on the afternoon. Ryan Kolben had one hit, marking his first home run season and third of his career. Kolben scored the lone run for the Minutemen.
Toledo put four runs up in the opening frame to take a 4-0 lead.
With two outs, Kolben homered to left center field to make it a 4-1 game in the second inning.
The Rockets tacked on two more runs in the third and three more in the fourth to extend their lead to 10-1. Toledo added a run in the seventh to win 11-1.
Drew Sliwkowski (0-1) had the loss for UMass, letting up five hits , five runs, two walks and striking out four on the day.
Deron Swanson (2-1) pitched six complete innings and allowed one run on two hits, walked one and struck out nine to earn the win for Toledo.
