Massachusetts Women's Track and Field Has Impressive Showing At Spring Opener

AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts women's track and field program opened the outdoor season at home on Saturday at the UMass Track & Field Complex. The Minutewomen dominated, taking the top spot in 11 events and recording 15 top-three finishes.

The Minutewomen return to action on April 4 for the UConn Dog Fight in Storrs, Conn.
Highlights from Competition:
- The duo of Anna Todd and Rylee Davis opened the day by pacing the women's 10k, securing first and second place with times of 36:05.41 and 36:10.17 respectively.
- The Minutewomen took eight of the top nine spots in the women's 1500m run, with Lara Mannes Diaz De Cerio pacing the event with a time of 4:31.10. Allison Chmielewski (2nd), Anna McElhinney (3rd), Anna Shaw (4th) and Leann Lombardi (5th) followed suit with times of 4:35.68, 4:44.38, 4:44.92 and 4:45.78 respectively. Maia Zatorska (7th), Simeone Harrison (8th) and Kaylie Dalgar (9th) rounded out the top-nine with times of 4:48.58, 4:49.50 and 4:53.59.
- Ali Murphy took the top spot in the women's 400m with a finish of 59.15.
- The trio of Jillian Strynar (1st), Jennifer Williams (2nd) and Chloe Guthrie (3rd) took the top three spots in the women's 100m dash with times of 12.22, 12.87 and 12.89.
- Jennifer Williams claimed gold in the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 14.60.
- First-year Skylar Fox claimed the top spot in the women's 800m run in her first outdoor meet of her career, finishing in 2:21.80.
- UMass took the top four spots in the women's 200m dash, with Jillian Strynar pacing the Minutewomen with a time of 25.12. Ashley Johnson (2nd), Shakira Cadet (3rd) and Leila Metres (4th) rounded out the top-four with times of 25.17, 25.92 and 26.39, respectively. Jennifer Williams took sixth with a time of 26.82.
- Skylar Fox, Ashley Johnson, Leila Metres and Ali Murphy combined to run 4:03.84 in the women's 4x400m relay, taking gold.
- Bridget Lee placed second in the women's long jump with a leap of 17'6.25". Ainsley Hileman placed sixth with a jump of 15'9".
- Tolu Odetola placed first in the women's triple jump with a distance of 39'2.50".
- Mattie Bishop placed second in the women's shot put with a toss of 43'3". Eve Segal (5th) and Tess Rancourt (6th) placed consecutively with throws of 39'4.75" and 36'11".
- Natalie Krysta placed third in the women's discus with a toss of 125'0". Mattie Bishop rounded out the top-five with a toss of 113', and Eve Segal placed seventh with a throw of 107'3".
- Elizabeth Hopkins took the top spot in the women's javelin with a toss of 137'4".
- Jaliyah Burns (1st) and Coco Van Nynatten (2nd) placed consecutively in the women's hammer throw with throws of 161'9" and 158'8".
