Massachusetts Hockey Blanks #19 Boston University, 2-0

January 10, 2026 | Hockey

BOSTON – University of Massachusetts hockey blocked 22 shots to go along with netminder Michael Hrabal's 26 saves en route to a 2-0 shutout of No. 19 Boston University at Agganis Arena on Saturday. With the win, the Minutemen move to 10-10-0 overall, 3-7-0 in league action, while the Terriers fall to 10-9-1, 7-6-0 in Hockey East play.

Freshman Václav Nestrašil put UMass on the board 11:39 into the opening period, stripping BU goaltender Mikhail Yegorov of the puck below the goal line and depositing it into an open net for his team-leading 11th tally of the season.

It appeared junior Jack Musa had doubled the advantage for the Minutemen with 16:04 to play in the second period, but following a coach's challenge by the Terriers, the goal was called back for goaltender interference.

Musa later potted the empty net goal to seal the victory for UMass at the 19:07 mark of the third period.

Eight Minutemen had two or more blocks in the contest, led by senior Owen Murray and junior Matthew Wilde with three apiece. BU finished the night with a 26-18 shot advantage while going 0-for-3 on the power play, while UMass was 0-1.

The Minutemen will return to action next Friday, January 16, when the squad will be in action at Merrimack at 7 p.m.
