Massachusetts Tennis Visits Rutgers For Saturday Match

The Minutewomen take on the Scarlet Knights on Saturday at 4 p.m. in East Brunswick, N.J.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis returns to competition with a road trip to East Brunswick, New Jersey, to face Rutgers on Saturday, February 22, at 4 p.m., at the East Brunswick Racquet Club.
Last Time Out
The Minutewomen return to the courts after two weeks off, due to the Army and St. John's matches being canceled due to weather. UMass last matched up with Holy Cross and Fairfield on February 1 and February 2, respectively, as the team swept the weekend.
Against Holy Cross, Massachusetts defeated the Crusaders, 6-1, securing the doubles point first. The two teams played out the match as Ella Faessler clinched the match at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0.
The Minutewomen swept Fairfield, 7-0, grabbing the doubles point and picking up all six points in singles competition.
Scouting Rutgers
The Scarlet Knights hold a 4-2 overall record on the season, including a 3-0 record at home. After falling in its first match of the year to Princeton (4-1), Rutgers went on a four-match win streak, defeating both LIU and NJIT by a score of 7-0. The Scarlet Knights also won 4-3 over Delaware and 4-0 over St. John's.
Rutgers are coming off a 4-1 loss to Yale on the road last Saturday.
Weekly Honors
Faessler collected the first Atlantic 10 weekly award of the year for the Minutewomen on February 4. The junior tabbed the A-10 Player of the Week accolade, which marked the first weekly honor of her career. On the week, Faessler went 2-0 in singles competition and 1-0 in doubles play.

Massachusetts will continue playing on the road with trip to Hanover, New Hampshire, for a Saturday, March 1 match against Dartmouth at 1 p.m.
