Massachusetts Tennis Drops Road Match To Rutgers, 6-1

EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. – University of Massachusetts tennis fell to Rutgers University, 6-1, on Saturday evening at the East Brunswick Racquet Club.

The Scarlet Knights took the doubles point with wins at courts No. 3 and No. 1. Belle Jonglertrakul and Mariana Campino led at No. 2 doubles, 5-3, before the match came to a halt.

In singles competition, Rutgers grabbed the first point to take a 2-0 lead, but Campino cut the deficit in half for the Minutewomen. Campino defeated Minchae Kim of Rutgers, 6-4, 7-5, at court No. 3 to secure the first and only point for UMass. The Scarlet Knights picked up the next four points in singles, as all four matches at No. 2, No. 6, No. 4 and No. 5 went into three sets.

Massachusetts will continue playing on the road with trip to Hanover, New Hampshire, for a Saturday, March 1 match against Dartmouth at 1 p.m.
