Massachusetts Men’s Track and Field’s Compete in the Valentine and Giegengack Invitationals

AMHERST, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts men's track and field team had a busy weekend, posting three new top-10 placements in the all-time program performance list at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston on Friday and the Giegengack Invitational in New Haven, Conn. on Saturday.

Massachusetts returns to action next weekend to compete in the Brown Invitational at the Olney-Margolies Athletic Center (OMAC) on Feb. 22.

- Winston Lewis, Chris Scalia, Corey Sanders and Godot Gaskins placed fifth in the men's 4x400m relay, combining to run 3:13.54, also claiming the second-fastest time in program history.
- Colin Kirn ran the eighth-fastest men's 1,000m run in program history, crossing the finish line in 2:26.41.
- John Lucey's 14:07.71 performance in the men's 5,000m run was good enough for the second-fastest time in program history.
- Four Minutemen finished inside the top-10 of the men's high jump, as Carson Crump (6'2.75"), Aidan Lee (6'0.75"), Jacob Brown (5'10.75") and Elijah Wolinski (5'10.75) placed fifth, sixth, seventh and 10th, respectively.
- Brennan Ibbiston claimed the fifth-best throw in the men's shot put with a distance of 42'6.75", with Jacob Brown (6th) and Jack Ngo (8th) following with tosses of 40'7.75" and 37'1.25", respectively.
- Hunter Feitel placed sixth in the men's pole vault with a clearance of 14'11".
- Mathew Acquah claimed the fourth-best jump in the men's triple jump with a total distance of 47'2.5".
- Elijah Wolinski earned an eighth-place finish in the men's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.58.
- Aiden Donovan placed seventh in the men's shot put invitational with a throw of 49'8.5".
- Michael Sanchez secured a fifth-place finish in the men's 400m run, crossing the finish line in 50.07.
- Michael Sanchez, Malcolm Clark, Chamberlain Guthrie and Tory Stuckey claimed silver in the men's 4x400 relay, combining to run 3:28.33. Mark Sten, Aidan Lee, Carson Crump and Hunter Feitel also medaled, earning bronze with a time of 3:30.15.
