AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts men's track & field program is set to compete in the NCAA East Preliminary Championships from Wednesday, May 27 to Saturday, May 30, at the UK Outdoor Track & Field Complex in Lexington, Ky. Matthew Aqcuah, Riley Cole and Collin Catherwood each qualified for the meet in their respective events. It marks the most regional qualifiers UMass in a single  season in program history.

Acquah becomes the second Minutemen to reach the East Regional in the triple jump in outdoor program history, joining Erik Hoagland, when he qualified in 2006. Acquah earned a spot in the meet after his leap of 15.56m at the MAC Outdoor Championships, where he also claimed the gold medal.

Cole earned a spot in the 3k steeplechase, marking the second consecutive year the Minutemen have qualified for the East Regional in the event (Michael Norberg, 2025). Cole earned a spot in the East Regional after running a 3:46.92 at the Penn Relays.

After a 13:45.84 performance in the 5k at the Penn Relays, Catherwood qualified for the East Regional event. Catherwood also took fourth in the event at the MAC Outdoor Championships.
