#12/13 Massachusetts Hockey Falls To #18/16 Boston College, 4-0
November 15, 2025 | Hockey
AMHERST, Mass. – Despite even chances throughout the contest, No. 12/13 University of Massachusetts hockey was unable to solve goaltender Louka Cloutier, falling to No. 18/16 Boston College, 4-0 on Saturday night at the Mullins Center. The setback leaves the Minutemen at 7-6-0 overall, 1-4-0 in Hockey East action, while the Eagles improve to 6-4-1, 4-2-0 in league play.
"That was the kind of effort I was hoping for from our team tonight after last night," said UMass head coach Greg Carvel. "I thought we played a solid game. It was a game that which team was going to get a bounce or deflection. We had some chances early in the game. It would have been nice to score early and maybe it takes the game on a different course, but it was tight checking. Both teams just dumping and trying to earn it back. They get a couple pucks to the net with some deflections and that was a difference in the game, but I was happy with our group tonight."
BC broke up the scoreless deadlock late in the second period as Will Vote and Luka Radivojevic passed the puck around the perimeter of the offensive zone and Paul Davey finished the play with a shot from the right wing that deflected off a body in front and in at 14:28.
The Eagles doubled their lead 6:59 into the third. After collecting a pass from Drew Fortescue and Ryan Conmy, Jake Sondreal flung a shot towards the net and the puck bounced past netminder Jackson Irving.
Sondreal added his second of the night at the 11:41 mark with a back post tap-in off a wrap-around attempt by Dean Letourneau with Conmy collecting the secondary helper.
Conmy picked up his third point of the night with an empty net goal from Fortescue to cap the scoring at the 15:16 mark.
BC edged UMass in shots, 35-32 and did not have a power play on the night, while the Minutemen were 0-for-3 with the man advantage.
Cloutier totaled 32 saves in the shutout effort and Irving turned aside 31 for UMass.
