Massachusetts Hockey's Michael Hrabal Tabbed CSC Third Team Academic All-American

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey goaltender Michael Hrabal has been named to the 2025-26 Academic All-America Men's At-Large Third Team, College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced on Wednesday. The 2026 UMass graduate is the third individual in program history to earn the honor, with Aaron Bohlinger '24 being recognized twice in his career. Hrabal, a sport management major, finished his degree in three years with a 3.82 grade point average. He is one of seven Division I men's ice hockey student-athletes on the Academic All-America Teams and the lone Hockey East representative on the squads, which consist of individuals from 10 eligible sports Division I men's sports (fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, volleyball, water polo and wrestling). A total of 45 student-athletes were recognized.
Hrabal, a 2025-26 CCM/AHCA Hockey East First Team All-American, was named a 2026 New England All-Star, the 2026 Leonard Fowle award winner (New England MVP), and a finalist for the 2026 Mike Richter Award (national goaltender of the year). He was also tabbed the Hockey East Player of the Year, Hockey East Goaltender of the Year and a unanimous Hockey East First Team All-Star selection. The Prague, Czechia signed an entry-level contract with the Utah Mammoth upon the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.
Hrabal put together a stellar second half of 2025-26, helping the Minutemen vault from last place to second in the Hockey East standings. From January 1 on, the three-time Hockey East All-Star went 13-4-1 with four shutouts, a 1.33 GAA and a .959 save percentage. He allowed just two goals or less in 16 of those 18 games.
Overall on the season, Hrabal was 19-9-1 with a 1.95 GAA and 837 saves for a .937 save percentage over 29 games in net. He finished his season third in the nation in save percentage, fifth in GAA and sixth in shutouts. A back-to-back winner of National Goaltender of the Month, Hrabal collected four weekly awards from Hockey East and was tabbed the Hockey East Player of the Month for January and the Goaltender of the Month for February.
Hrabal made 30+ saves 10 times this season, eclipsing the 40-save mark on three occasions, including a career high 50 stops against UConn on February 28. The netminder finished Hockey East play with a record of 12-5-1 and four shutouts to go along with a 1.55 goals against average and a .952 save percentage. He led all Hockey East goaltenders in GAA and save percentage, finishing just .001 off the league record in the latter.
In his three-year career in a UMass uniform, Hrabal appeared in 95 games and a total of 5,635 minutes, compiling a record of 54-33-7 with eight shutouts. His career save percentage (.925) and goals against average (2.32) rank third, while is wins total is second all-time in program history. He recorded 2,661 career saves, good for fourth all time.
