Wiesner Bests Own Weight Throw Program Record at Battle in Beantown

BOSTON, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts women's track and field team altered the program record books following the Battle in Beantown meet on Saturday, with seven new entries into the all-time top 10 and a new program record in the women's weight throw.
 
Highlights from Competition:
  • Ainsley Wiesner bested her own program record in the weight throw with a distance of 59'04.25", placing second in the event overall.
  • Courtney Rowland claimed victory in the women's high jump with a best of 5'07" on the day.
  • Shakira Cadet (38'09.50") won the triple jump, with Ruth Michel (37'08.50) also claiming a podium spot at third.
  • Mattie Bishop claimed gold in the shot put (41'10") as Eve Segal (39'09.75") placed third.
  • Simone Harrison finished third in the women's 800m with a time of 2:16.13.
  • Klara Hansen (10:01.19) earned second in the women's 3k, followed by Eugenia Fairhurst (10:03.22) and Annika Zuschlag (10:03.51) who placed fourth and fifth respectively.
  • Katelyn Gorgenyi finished fourth in the women's 60m hurdles finals, crossing the line at 8.83.
  • The 4x400m relay team of Alexandria Scott, Ali Murphy, Caroline Mullady, an Sadai Headley-Mawasi recorded the 6th-fastest time in school history, placing third with a time of (3:50.31).
  • Chloe Taylor earned bronze in the pole vault, recording a best of 12'05.50" on Saturday. Maia Perillo entered the top 10 performance list in the pole vault at 11'11.75".
  • Caroline Mullady (4th), Alexandria Scott (8th), and Jana DeRaedt (9th) each entered the program's all-time top 10 performance list for the women's 300m with times of 40.86, 41.63, and 41.66 respectively.
  • Rylee Shunney claimed the fifth-best women's mile time in school history with a time of 4:55.28.
 
Up Next
The Minutewomen will compete in the UML River Hawk Invitational at the TRACK at New Balance on January 24-25.
