Bella Mendoza picks up the weekly honor for the fifth time in her career
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Redshirt senior goalkeeper Bella Mendoza was honored as the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon. It marks the fifth A-10 weekly award for Mendoza in her career.
Mendoza and the Minutewomen went 2-0 on the week, as Mendoza collected her third and fourth shutouts of the year with a 4-0 win against Northeastern and a 3-0 win at Bryant. Allowing no goals, she had a 1.000 save percentage. Against Northeastern, the San Ramon, California, native, made two saves, while stopping three shots at Bryant. The two shutouts also marked the 14th and 15th of her career.
Massachusetts will return to the pitch on Sunday, September 15, for a home game at Rudd against UMass Lowell for Senior Day. The match is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+, with senior day festivities beginning prior to the start of the contest.
