#3 Tennis Faces #6 Rhode Island In A-10 Quarterfinals

The Minutewomen begin tournament action with the Rams on Thursday, April 25 at 7 p.m.
AMHERST, Mass. – The No. 3 University of Massachusetts tennis team begins Atlantic 10 Championship competition on Thursday, April 25, against No.6 Rhode Island in Orlando, Florida. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at the USTA National Campus.
The Minutewomen earned the No. 3 seed for the second year in a row. As the No. 3 seed, UMass received a bye, along with No. 1-seeded VCU and No. 2-seeded Saint Louis.
The match will be streamed via live court cams and live scoring will be available.

Massachusetts claimed a 4-1 victory over Rhode Island last Saturday to pick up its fourth consecutive A-10 Conference win, finishing the regular season, 4-1, in the league.
The Minutewomen claimed the doubles point with victories at court No. 1 and No. 3. The pair of Mariana Campino and Renata Farima defeated the Rams, 6-4, at No. 3 doubles, before Rhode Island won 6-3 at No. 2 over Ella Faessler and Amelia Tye. The duo of Danielle Hack and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul secure the doubles point, nabbing a 7-5, come-from-behind win over Rhode Island.
UMass continued its momentum, seizing wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 singles. Farima earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory against the Rams at No. 5 to lead 2-0, but Rhode Island notched its lone point with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Faessler at No. 3 singles. On court No. 1, Hack downed the Rams, 6-1, 6-2, and Jonglertrakul clinched the match for the Minutewomen in a second set tiebreaker, winning 6-2, 7-6(8) at No. 2 singles.

Massachusetts concluded the regular season with a 12-7 overall record and a 4-1 mark in the A-10 Conference. UMass completed its home schedule with a 7-1 record and earned four straight wins to finish out the season. All four of the consecutive triumphs came over league opponents.
