Massachusetts Hockey's Vanroboys Inks ATO With San Jose Barracuda

SAN JOSE – University of Massachusetts hockey graduate student forward Lucas Vanroboys has signed an Amateur Tryout Contract (ATO) with the San Jose Barracuda, the organization announced on Monday. Vanroboys came to UMass as graduate transfer from Bentley for 2023-24.
In his final season of collegiate eligibility, Vanroboys appeared in 29 games for the Minutemen and registered eight points on three goals and five assists, was +3 and recorded nine blocks. He led UMass in faceoff percentage at 60.1%, winning 170 of 283 draws, good for second in Hockey East among players with 200+ attempts.
Prior to coming to Amherst, Vanroboys saw action in 111 games over four years at Bentley and logged 11 goals and 33 assists for 44 points, including a career best 20 points (4g, 16a) in 2022-23 while ranking fourth in Atlantic Hockey in faceoff winning percentage at .560 (329-of-587). In 2021-22, he finished ninth in Atlantic Hockey with 315 faceoff wins and led the Falcons with a .575 faceoff winning percentage in 2020-21.
Over five years of college hockey, Vanroboys played in 140 games and totaled 52 points (14g, 38a) including two game winners, a power-play goal and a shorthanded tally.
