AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey will welcome six-foot, 181 pound left shot forward Egor Barabanov to its roster for 2026-27. The St. Petersburg, Russia native will join forwards Gavin Cornforth, Max Curran, Maxim Massé and Melvin Novotny and defensemen Barrett Dexheimer and Mathieu Taillefer as the seventh new addition to the UMass squad this fall. Barabanov, ranked No. 43 in the final NHL Central Scouting list for North American skaters, is expected to hear his name called in the draft later this month.

"Egor is a skilled Russian forward known for his creativity, puck control, and playmaking ability," said UMass head coach Greg Carvel. "Egor is always moving and looking to create offense while he is on the ice. This past season, he played for the Saginaw Spirit in the OHL, where he featured as an impact player on a nightly basis for his team. We look forward to Egor providing the same for our group for years to come."

In 2025-26 with Saginaw, Barabanov amassed 95 points in 72 games on 29 goals and 66 assists. He came to the Ontario Hockey League after spending two full seasons in the United States Hockey League, playing for both the Sioux Falls Stampede (2022-24) and the Madison Captiols (2024-25).

Over the course of 135 career USHL games, Barabanov logged 58 points on 20 goals and 38 assists
