Massachusetts Hockey Announces 1990's All-Decade Team - Presented by Milton CAT

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts hockey announced its first of three All-Decade Teams, presented by Milton CAT, unveiling the fan vote winners of the 1990's era during Saturday night's game against UConn. Fans selected forwards Rob Bonneau, Sal Manganaro and Warren Norris, defensemen Joey Culgin and Brad Norton and goaltender Brian Regan.
Meet the Massachusetts hockey 1990's All-Decade Team:
Rob Bonneau – Springfield, Mass. – Forward – 1993-1997
Bonneau played four years at UMass, serving as captain for the Minutemen as a senior. He left Amherst as the program's all-time Division I scoring leader with 166 points on 72 goals and 94 assists over 131 games, a record that still stands today. The Springfield, Massachusetts native also sits second in career assists and third in goals in the UMass record book and was +24 for his career. Bonneau was tabbed the team's Most Valuable Player three times and holds the program record for career shorthanded goals with 12 and the single-season mark with six. Three of his season point totals rank in the top-15 in program history as he logged 47 twice and 46 once. Bonneau is one of just three players in program history to score 25 or more in a single season and went on to play four years in the ECHL and AHL, winning a Kelly Cup with the Hampton Roads Admirals in 1997-98.
Sal Manganaro – Quincy, Mass. – Forward – 1994-1996
Manganaro played two seasons at UMass from 1994 to 1996 after transferring in from Boston College. He averaged more than a point per-game, putting up 66 in 62 career contests on 34 goals and 23 assists with 13 power-play goals. The Quincy, Massachusetts native scored 23 goals in 1995-96, which is currently tied for seventh in program history on the single season list. Following his collegiate career, Manganaro spent six seasons in the ECHL and put up 40 or more points four times.
Warren Norris – St. John's, Newfoundland – Forward – 1993-1997
Norris played four seasons at UMass for 1993 to 1997, earning Team MVP honors in 1996-97 and receiving the Jack Canniff Unsung Hero Award in 1995-96. The St. John's Newfoundland native ranks third all-time in career points for UMass with 154 in 132 games played on 73 goals and 81 assists. He is the leading goal scorer of UMass' Division I era and currently sits second all-time in career goals and third in assists. Norris holds the UMass record for career power-play goals with 22 and played two seasons in the AHL after leaving Amherst.
Joey Culgin – Framingham, Mass. – Defenseman – 1997-2001
Culgin lettered all four years at UMass from 1997 to 2001. He appeared in 98 career games and contributed 19 total points with one power-play goal, one shorthanded goal and one game winner.
Brad Norton – Acton, Mass. – Defenseman – 1994-1998
Norton was a four-year letterwinner for the Minutemen and served as team captain as a senior in 1997-98. The Acton, Massachusetts native appeared in 119 career games and logged 55 points on eight goals and 47 assists with four power-play markers and one shorthanded tally. He currently ranks 35th all-time in career assists and first in career penalties with 122 in the program's record book. Norton, who was selected by Edmonton in the ninth round of the 1993 NHL Draft, was the first Minuteman to reach the NHL, playing 22 games for the Florida Panthers in 2001-02. He played a total of 124 NHL games for five organizations over five seasons.
Brian Regan – New Milford, Conn. – Goaltender – 1994-1998
Regan was selected in the 10th round of the 1994 NHL Draft by the Hartford Whalers and went on to play the next four seasons at UMass, serving as team captain in 1997-98 as a senior. The three-time Hockey East Weekly award winner was a Hockey East All-Rookie Team honoree in 1994-95. Regan was voted as the team's Most Valuable Player in 1995-96 and 1997-98 and the team's Rookie of the Year in 1994-95. The New Milford, Connecticut native ranks fourth all-time in career games played for a goaltender at 108 and minutes played at 6,040, while he is currently seventh all-time in wins with 25, second all-time in saves with 3,050 and saves per-game at 28.24. Regan's 1996-97 total of 820 saves ranks sixth all-time on the UMass single-season list, while his 1997-98 total of 809 sits seventh and his 1995-96 total of 802 ranks ninth. The netminder made 51 saves against Boston University on February 3, 1995, a Mullins Center individual record. Regan played two seasons of professional hockey following his career at UMass, including 30 games in the AHL with the Philadelphia Phantoms in 2000-01.
