University of Massachusetts hockey will close out the calendar year playing host to Simon Fraser in an exhibition matchup at the Mullins Center this Saturday at 6 p.m. The Minutemen finished the first half of their 2024-25 slate with a record of 8-7-2 overall and will begin the second half next weekend at the Desert Hockey Classic in Tempe, Arizona on January 3-4. Junior Cole O'Hara leads UMass in scoring through 17 games with 23 points on seven goals and 16 assists. The Minutemen's leading goal scorer, sophomore Aydar Suniev, has 10 to his credit to go along with nine assists for 19 points. UMass will be without freshman forward Daniel Jencko and sophomore goaltender Michael Hrabal on Saturday as both are playing in the IIHF World Junior Championship for Slovakia and Czechia, respectively. Jackson Irving has seen 101 minutes of action in net for the Minutemen this season and holds a 1.18 goals against average and a .949 save percentage.
