Tennis Welcomes Quinnipiac, St. John’s To Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center

The Minutewomen host Quinnipiac on Saturday and St. John’s on Sunday at 1 p.m.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis will play host to Quinnipiac University on Saturday, February 3, and to St. John's University on Sunday, February 4, at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center. Both matches begin at 1 p.m.
Last Time Out
Massachusetts went 1-1 last weekend, falling 5-2 to Boston College, before picking up a 7-0 victory at Providence.
Against Boston College, Amelia Tye picked up her first collegiate singles win. Tye downed her Eagles' opponent, 6-3, 6-3, in the No. 4 position.
The Minutewomen swept Providence last Sunday, winning all three doubles matches to collect the point. Mariya Krasakova earned the first singles point of the day with a 6-1, 6-0 win, before Tye won, 6-2, 6-1. Alexandra O'Brien tabbed her first collegiate singles win with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over her Friars' opponent at No. 6. Thamonpan Jonglertrakul, Polina Akimova and Ella Faessler all took down their Providence opponents to give UMass a 7-0 triumph.
Scouting Quinnipiac
The Bobcats are 1-1 heading into Saturday's match up. Quinnipiac dropped a 7-0 decision on the road against Yale on Saturday, January 20, before earning its first win of the season over Hofstra, 5-2, last weekend.
Since April 15, 2002, the Minutewomen and Bobcats have met 17 times. Massachusetts holds a 16-1 advantage in the series, with Quinnipiac's lone 4-3 win coming on April 14, 2003. The two programs last met on February 23, 2019, as UMass swept Quinnipiac, 7-0, on the day.
Scouting St. John's
The Red Storm will compete for the first time this season on Wednesday, January 31, against Rider, before taking on Marist on Friday, February 2, prior to Sunday's match up against Massachusetts.

The Minutewomen hit the road for two matches next weekend in West Point, New York. UMass will face Georgetown for a neutral site competition on Saturday, February 10 at 8 a.m., before taking on Army on Sunday, February 11, at 12 p.m.
