AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts women's basketball team hosts La Salle Wednesday for Field Trip Day. The Minutewomen and Explorers tip off at 11 a.m. from the Mullins Center on NESN and ESPN+.
Last Time Out
The Minutewomen fell on the road at Rhode Island on Saturday afternoon, 63-48. Stefanie Kulesza led the Minutewomen in points with 15, rebounds with six, and steals with four. Alexsia Rose scored the first six points for UMass on her way to scoring 11 points while Bre Bellamy added eight.
Series History
Wednesday's game marks the 37th all-time meeting between the Minutewomen and the Explorers dating back to the first matchup during the 1985-86 season. UMass leads the series with a 22-15 record and holds an 11-5 advantage on its home floor while La Salle took the last meeting on Jan. 13 in Philadelphia, 70-64.
Crashing The Boards
Stefanie Kulesza leads the Minutewomen in rebounds per game at 7.6 and ranks fifth among Atlantic 10 leaders in both rebounds per game and total rebounds. Kulesza's 160 total rebounds ranks 85th among Division I leaders while her rebounds per game average is among the top 135 players. The junior set a career mark with 14 rebounds against both Saint Peter's and UMass Lowell and has surpassed 10 rebounds in five games this season.
On Target
Freshman Lilly Taulelei ranks seventh among Atlantic 10 leaders in field goal percentage at .496 on the season. Taulelei has reached a career-high in scoring twice this season with 14 points against both Maryland and Dayton, shooting 6-of-8 from the field against the Terps.
Field Trip Day
Wednesday's game against La Salle is the annual Field Trip Day game for the Minutewomen. The game tips off at 11 a.m. in the Mullins Center and will have students from local schools in attendance.
Gimme That
Stefanie Kulesza recorded a career-high eight steals against Loyola Chicago to mark the third most steals in a single game by a Minutewoman. Jennifer Butler holds the program record with 10 steals against Charlotte on Nov. 17, 2000 while three Minutewomen have recorded 9 steals during a game. The guard ranks fifth among A-10 leaders in steals per game at 1.8 and finished with four steals at Rhode Island on Saturday.
Looking Ahead
UMass follows Wednesday's game with two of its next three matchups on the road beginning at Saint Joseph's on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Minutewomen then return home to the Mullins Center for a midweek contest against Duquesne on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. before heading to the Bronx to take on Fordham on Feb. 10 at 2 p.m.
