Massachusetts Track & Field Trio Tabbed UMass Student-Athletes Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts track and field student-athletes freshman Megan Frazee, sophomore Godot Gaskins and junior Lillian Kirry have been chosen as the UMass Student-Athletes of UMass Student-Athletes of the Week following their performances at the Atlantic 10 Championships, it was announced on Tuesday. The duo will be honored at the next UMass Sports Luncheon at the Berkshire Dining Commons.
Frazee was named the Atlantic 10 women's Most Outstanding Rookie of the Meet at the conclusion of the A-10 Championships at the UMass Track & Field Complex. The Westford, Massachusetts native won gold in pole vault by clearing 12 feet, 8.75 inches, to break the program record that had stood since 2008. Frazee became the third Minutewoman in program history to earn Most Outstanding Rookie of the Meet honors at the outdoor championships.
Gaskins helped the Minutemen to a fifth-place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championships, collecting bronze in the 400m dash (47.20) and also scoring in the 200 meter dash (eighth, 21.96). The Marblehead, Massachusetts native ran the anchor leg of the UMass 4x100 relay that set a new school record of 40.89 seconds and earned bronze, taking down the previous record from 1997. Gaskins also anchored the 4x400 relay that took fourth in 3:15.44
Kirry won her second consecutive gold in 400 meter hurdles and also scored points in 100 meter hurdles as UMass women's track and field finished third at the A-10 Championships. Kirry took the 400m hurdles title in 57.74 seconds to break the meet record, facility record and the program record. She also scored in 100 meter hurdles with the No. 4 all-time mark, claiming fourth at the meet in 14.08 seconds. The Chewelah, Washington native anchored UMass' 4x400m relay that ran 3:45.86 to a bronze medal, the sixth-fastest 4x400 time in program history, as well.
