Women’s Basketball Signs Four Transfers

Bellamy, Hyduke, Mapp and Palmieri will join the Minutewomen beginning with the 2023-24 season.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's basketball head coach Mike Leflar announced the additions of Bre Bellamy, Tori Hyduke, Jermany Mapp and Allie Palmieri for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
 
"I am proud to announce the additions of Bre, Tori, Jermany and Allie to the Massachusetts Basketball family," said Leflar. "They all have significant experience and are all very talented. More importantly, they are great people. This group and their families believe in what UMass Basketball is and what UMass Basketball will become, and they will represent UMass with pride."
 
Bellamy, a six-foot forward from Freehold, New Jersey, comes to Massachusetts after spending four seasons at William & Mary. At William & Mary, she competed in 100 contests, starting in 86, and averaged 7.0 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game and 1.4 assists per game. Bellamy totaled a career high 19 points versus Drexel (Jan. 17, 2021), while grabbing a career-best 14 boards at Maryland East Shore (Nov. 23, 2021). In her freshman season with the Tribe, she earned a spot on the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) All-Rookie Team and was a three-time CAA Rookie of the Week honoree.
 
Hyduke, a 5-foot-6 guard from Fair Haven, New Jersey, joins the Minutewomen after spending three years at Drexel. During her time at Drexel, she competed in 67 games with one start and averaged 2.8 points per game, 1.0 rebounds per game and 0.7 assists per game. She put up a career-best 13 points against Stony Brook (Jan. 8, 2023), while coming down with a career-high three rebounds several times. Hyduke dished out a career-best five assists versus Delaware State (Dec. 21, 2022). In the 2021-22 season, she aided her team to a program-best 28 wins and a CAA Regular Season Championship. She also landed on the 2020 Fall CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
 
Mapp, a six-foot guard who hails from Chester, South Carolina, arrives at UMass after spending three seasons at Hampton. While with the Pirates, she averaged 6.7 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game and 0.9 assists per game through 58 games, getting the start in 37. She registered a career-best 22 points versus USC Upstate (Jan. 15, 2021) and had a career-high 10 rebounds at William & Mary (Nov. 29, 2021) and at High Point (Jan. 22, 2022). Mapp also tallied a career-best five assists at UNCW (Feb. 17, 20223) and swiped the ball a career-high four times against Drexel (Jan. 13, 2022).
 
Palmieri, a 5-foot-10 guard from Trumbull, Connecticut, comes to Massachusetts after a season and a half at Seton Hall, competing in seven games for the Pirates, and averaging 0.7 points per game, 0.9 rebounds per game and 0.1 assists per game. While at Seton Hall, she recorded five points, six rebounds, one assist and a steal. Palmieri competed at Boston College, previously, where she totaled a career high nine points vs. Pittsburgh (Feb. 16, 2021).

  • Tallied double figures in every game started, including a program record 41 points
  • As a junior averaged 16.2 points and 5.9 assists per game

  • 27th-best guard prospect in the nation by ESPN.com

Leflar on Hyduke: "I saw Tori score in bunches in high school and when she played at George Washington her freshman season. Tori and I talked about making her last season her best season. We have everything in place to make that happen, and I am glad she chose UMass to do it. Tori is a scoring point guard and will have great opportunity to impact our program right away."
