#3 Tennis Takes On #6 Davidson In A-10 Quarterfinals

The Minutewomen begin tournament with the Wildcats on Friday, April 28, at 11:30 a.m.

AMHERST, Mass. – The No. 3 University of Massachusetts tennis team begins Atlantic 10 Championship competition on Friday, April 28, against the No. 6 Davidson College in Orlando, Florida. First serve is set for 11:30 a.m., at the USTA National Campus.
 
As the No. 3 seed, the Minutewomen received a bye, along with No. 1-seeded VCU, No. 2-seeded Fordham and No. 4-seeded Richmond.  
 
The match will be streamed via live court cams and live scoring will be available.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Massachusetts claimed a 4-0 victory over Rhode Island last Sunday to pick up its fifth A-10 Conference victory, finishing the regular season, 5-1 in the league.
 
The Minutewomen came out strong, earning victories at both No. 1 and No. 2 for the doubles point. Danielle Hack and Anna Napadiy claimed a 6-2 win on court No. 2 versus the Rams. The pair of Thamonpan Jonglertrakul and Dylan Cannon were unsuccessful against their Rhode Island opponents, falling 6-4 at No. 3 doubles. Melisa Senli and Mariya Krasakova triumphed over URI, 7-6 on court No. 1– clinching the doubles point. 
 
UMass furthered its lead with wins at No. 6, No. 5 and No. 3 singles. Polina Akimova mounted a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Rhode Island at No. 6 singles, before Jonglertrakul bested her oppostion, 6-3, 6-2 on court No. 5. Krasakova secured the defining match point with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles against Rhode Island.
 
THE REGULAR SEASON RECORDS REPORT
Massachusetts concluded the regular season with an 11-6 overall record and a 5-1 mark in the A-10 Conference. UMass also completed its home schedule with an 8-1 record and held an undefeated home streak of 16 matches from February 12, 2022 to April 8, 2023.

WEEKLY AWARDS SWEEP X2
After posting a 4-0 weekend, going 2-0 in both doubles and singles play, Senli was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week on February 7, before garnering the laurel on March 1 with a 3-1 overall performance, going 1-1 in doubles and 2-0 in singles.

Hack earned A-10 Performer of the Week on March 1, marking the first weekly award of her career. She went 4-0 overall, including 2-0 in both doubles and singles competition.

The duo swept the weekly honors again on March 28, as Hack earned A-10 Performer of the Week and Senli tabbed A-10 Rookie of the Week. It marked the second weekly accolade for Hack and third for Senli.
