Massachusetts Women's Track And Field Collects Three Medals On Final Day Of Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships

KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of Massachusetts women's track and field team wrapped up action at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday. The performance was highlighted by two high jump medals and silver in the 500-meter run. The Minutewomen finished the meet in 5th place of 15 teams.

Highlights from Competition

Rebekah James took eighth place in the mile, clocking a time of 5:06.68.
Lillian Kirry captured fourth place in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.83 seconds.
In the 400-meter dash, Sadai Headley-Mawasi took fifth place in 58.02 seconds, while Kathryn Nippert took eighth place in 58.98 seconds.
Kirry collected a silver medal in the 500-meter run finals, recording a time of 1:14.60.
Grace Poku and Faith Richardson ran times of 7.74 seconds and 7.78 seconds, respectively, in the 60-meter dash finals for seventh and eighth places.
In the high jump, Elizabeth Lodge won gold, clearing 5' 8.5", good for No. 3 all-time at UMass in the event. Courtney Rowland cleared 5' 7.25" for a bronze medal and the No. 5 all-time best leap at UMass. Marielsa McBride cleared 5' 6" for fifth place and a personal best on the day.
Gabriella Pagnini collected a sixth place finish in shot put with a 43' 4.25" toss.
Gabrielle Bilong leapt 37' 8.75" for a personal best in the long jump and seventh place on the day.
The UMass 4x800-meter relay team took sixth place in the event, crossing the finish line in 9:20.65.
The UMass 4x400-meter relay team claimed fifth place in 3:52.55.

The Minutewomen will return to the track on Friday, March 17 and Saturday, March 18 as they kick off the outdoor season at the UCF Knights Invite in Orlando, Fla.
