UMass Women’s Track & Field’s Kirry Wraps Up Season In NCAA First Round Of 400M Hurdles

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of Massachusetts women's track & field junior Lillian Kirry raced in the NCAA First Round of the 400 meter hurdles on North Florida's Jax Track at Hodges Stadium on Thursday evening. The junior finished fourth in heat three with a time of 58.87, 27th overall out of 48 competitors.
The Chewelah, Washington native closes out a successful 2023 campaign which saw her break the UMass, facility and A-10 Championship records with a time of 57.74 en route to her second consecutive Atlantic 10 title. Kirry raced the event five times this spring, taking first on three occasions and second once.
At the NCAA East Preliminary Championships in 2022, Kirry ran 58.83 seconds to third in the opening heat to earn her an automatic qualification for the quarterfinals. Her time was good for 20th in the field of 48 competitors. In the quarterfinals, she took seventh in her heat and 23rd overall with a time of 59.52 seconds.
