University Of Massachusetts Women's Track & Field Team Closes Out First Indoor Meet

STORRS, Conn.- The University of Massachusetts women's track and field team competed at the UConn Husky Challenge on Friday to kick off the indoor season. Senior Faith Richardson and Junior Sadai Headley-Mawasi led the Minutewomen with first place finishes in the 60 meter dash and 300 meter respectively.
Highlights from Competition:

Richardson won the 60 meter dash with a personal best time of 7.66 seconds, just .02 second behind the second best time in program history which she ran last year.

Headley-Mawasi also earned a win with a personal best time of 40.48 to take the 300 meter.

Junior Courtney Rowland recorded a personal best height of 5' 8" in the high jump to place second. The mark puts her in a tie for fourth all-time at UMass.

Behind Rowland in the high jump, Tessa Bostwick, Shakira Cadet, and Madelyn Krohto all tied for third with jumps of 5' 3".

Junior Jordan Lafave claimed third in the long jump with an indoor personal best mark of 18' 8.75".

Winnie Sekyaya had a personal best jump of 17' 2.25" to come in fifth in the long jump.

Sophomore thrower Jaliyah Burns also set a personal record with a 49' 10.5" weighted throw to take third.

Hannah Beckman took second in the 600 meter with a personal best time of 1:42.68.

Ruth Mitchell claimed third in the triple jump with a distance of 37' 8.5" which is a new personal record.

Sophomore Natalie Krysta finished third in the shot put with a personal best throw of 40' 3.25".
The Minutewomen will be off for over a month until they host the UMass Amherst Winter Opener at the TRACK at New Balance on January 14th.
