AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's soccer travels to Saint Louis, Missouri, on Thursday, October 12, for an 8 p.m. showdown against RV Saint Louis on ESPN+ at Hermann Stadium.
 
Last Time Out
UMass sits at 7-3-4 overall record, including 4-1-2 in the Atlantic 10, after ending in a scoreless draw with St. Bonaventure last Sunday.
 
UMass' offense got off to a strong start in the first half, registering eight shots, that continued well into the second half of the contest, tallying seven more in the final 45 minutes. The Minutewomen defense had a strong effort throughout the game, as well, holding the Bonnies to only three shots in both the first and second half. Massachusetts had several scoring opportunities, placing six of its 15 shots on target, while St. Bonaventure had one shot on goal.
 
Keeping Track
Graduate student defender Fiona Kane become the program's all-time leader in career games started on Sunday against St. Bonaventure (10/8) with 85 games started.
 
Kane is also tied for first, alongside Amanda Thompson (1995-98) in career games played with 85. Thursday night she will claim the program's all-time leader title with 86 games played in her career.  
 
Kane became the all-time minutes leader, currently accumulating 7,687. She surpassed Danielle Dion (1994-97), who tallied 6,913 minutes of playing time and Briana Scurry (1990-93), who totaled 6,073 minutes over her career.
 
Senior goalkeeper Bella Mendoza etched her name in the record books after tallying 186 career saves to claim ninth place in the program, surpassing Carla DeSantis (1985-88) with 184 saves. With 10 more saves, the senior will tie for eighth with Lauren Luckey (2006-10).
 
Mendoza also is six shutouts away from tying for 10th in the program alongside Tammie Easton (1982) with 12. The San Ramon, California, native, has recorded nine career shutouts, garnering a career-high in a single season of six this year.
 
Statistically Speaking
The Minutewomen currently sit fourth in the A-10 standings, with Saint Louis taking the top spot, followed by La Salle and Dayton. UMass is fourth in points with 66, while also placing fourth in goals (22) and third in assists (22). Massachusetts has also allowed the fewest number of goals this season, only letting in nine by its opponents.
 
Junior midfielder Bella Recinos leads the team in points (15), goals (five) and assists (five). She is currently second in points in the Atlantic 10, while tying for second in both goals and assists.  Junior forward Ashley Lamond follows with the second-most points on the team with 12, while sitting atop the leaderboard with Recinos in goals with five and tying for third in assists with two. In the league, she is tied for fifth with her points total and tied for second with her goals.
 
Recinos also leads the team in game-winning goals with two and is tied for second in the conference. Five different Minutewomen are tied for third in the A-10 with one game-winning goal.
 
Mendoza tallied 1,175 minutes in net for the Minutewomen, averaging a .690 goals-against-average (GAA) and a .864 save percentage. She has also accumulated six shutouts, combining for one on the year.
 
Mendoza has placed herself in the conference rankings, sitting second in goals-against-average with a .690. She also ranks third with a .864 save percentage and is sixth in total saves with 57. She is also tied for second in shutouts per game with a .429 average and with her six total shutouts.
 
Scouting Saint Louis
The Billikens hold a 10-1-3 advantage over the Minutewomen in the all-time series. The two programs first me on October 16, 2005, when Saint Louis shutout UMass, 1-0, on the day. Massachusetts and Saint Louis met last season at Rudd Field, with the then No. 12-ranked Billikens winning 3-0.
 
Saint Louis has a 10-2-2 overall record and 5-0-1 record in league competition, with its A-10 wins coming at Loyola Chicago (1-0), vs. Fordham (4-0), at George Mason (3-0), at VCU (1-0) and against Richmond (4-0). The Billikens tied with Dayton, 1-1.  
 
Emily Gaebe leads Saint Louis in points with 16, followed by Caroline Kelly with 13. Both Gaebe and Kelly sit atop the leaderboard with six goals apiece, while Hannah Larson has a team-leading six assists. Gaebe registered a team-best 46 shots, with 24 on goal. Emily Puricelli has tallied the most minutes in net for the Billikens with 1,209 minutes and holding a 10-2-2 record with five solo shutouts. Puricelli averages a 0.740 GAA and a .865 save percentage, stopping 65 shots.
 
Weekly Honors
Kane collected the first Atlantic 10 weekly accolade of the year for the Minutewomen on September 5. She earned A-10 Defensive Player of the Week after playing a key role for UMass' defense to post back-to-back 2-0 shutouts over Syracuse (8/31) and Bryant (9/3). Kane combined for 176 total minutes, playing the full 90 minutes against Syracuse and 86 minutes against Bryant. 
 
Mendoza garnered the second A-10 weekly award, earning A-10 Defensive Player of the Week on September 25. She tabbed the accolade after recording two complete shutouts after defeating VCU, 1-0, and Davidson, 5-0. Playing 180 minutes in net, Mendoza allowed no goals and had a perfect save percentage to earn her fourth and fifth shutouts of the season. She turned aside 13 total saves, including a season-best seven against VCU.
 
Recinos tabbed the third A-10 weekly award for the Minutewomen on October 2 after being named the A-10 Offensive Player of the Week. The accolade marked the first of her career and accumulated 149 minutes of playing time, while registering two goals and two assists for a total of six points. She scored the lone goal at Duquesne (9/28) for two points. Against Loyola Chicago (10/1) she notched the game-winning goal, and added two assists, matching a career-high, on the day for four total points. Recinos also recorded four shots, placing three on goal, on the week.
 
Looking Ahead
UMass will host Saint Joseph's on Thursday, October 19, at 3 p.m. at Rudd Field, before finishing out the regular season with a trip to Fordham on Sunday, October 22, for a 1:30 p.m. contest.
