Tennis Falters In Season Opener Against Boston College, 7-0

The Minutewomen look ahead to home opener vs. Siena next Saturday.
WEYMOUTH, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis returned to the courts for the 2023 spring season, falling 7-0 to Boston College on Saturday evening. It marked the first dual match for the Minutewomen on the season, while the Eagles improved to 4-1 overall with the victory.
BC picked up the doubles point with wins on courts No. 1 and No. 3. On court No. 1, Seren Agar and Laura Lopez of Boston College took down duo Danielle Hack and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul, 6-3, before partners Melisa Senli and Mariya Krasakova knotted doubles competition up at 1-1, after defeating BC's Stephanie Sanchez and Sophia Edwards, 6-3 on court No. 2. Boston College's Natalie Eordekian and Muskan Mahajan secured the point for the Eagles with a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles over Anna Napadiy and Dylan Cannon.
In singles play, BC earned a point at court No. 6 by default to take an early 2-0 lead. Agar of Boston College won 6-2, 6-2, against Krasakova at No. 3 singles, before Eordekian secured a 6-2, 6-2, victory on court No. 5 over Napadiy, pushing the Eagles' lead to 4-0. Sanchez of BC finished with a 7-6 (5), 6-3, win over Jonglertakul at court No. 4, making it a 5-0 match. The final two matches came down to a third set, with Boston College grabbing the points at courts No. 2 and No. 1, respectively. The Eagles' Edwards earned a 6-7(5), 7-5, 10-3 win over Senli, before Lopez of Boston College clinched the match point over Hack, 4-6, 7-6 (3), 10-8.
UMass is back in action on Saturday, February 4, for its home opener at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center at 1 p.m., against Siena.
