Massachusetts Tennis Defeats Siena, 6-1

The Minutewomen scored all points but a default 6th singles point in their first win of 2023.
AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts tennis defeated Siena College on Saturday afternoon, 6-1, at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center. UMass improved to 1-1 on the season, while Siena dropped to 0-2 on the year.
The Minutewomen earned the doubles point, winning all three matches. Melisa Senli and Mariya Krasakova swept Maanya Viswanath and Reegan Mullaney, 6-0, on court No. 2., before Anna Napadiy and Dylan Cannon's 6-1 won against Emma Boggiali and Laia Giralt. On court No. 1, Danielle Hack and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul bested Meagan Brown and Alexa Wilson, 6-4.Â
In singles play, Siena earned a point by default to tie the match at court No. 6. On court No. 1, Senli secured a win versus Brown, 6-0, 6-1, to earn the lead for Massachusetts, while Krasakova picked up another point for the Minutewomen, defeating Mullaney on court No. 3, 6-1, 6-1. Hack won her match at No. 2 singles against Giratt, 6-1, 6-2, to extend Massachusetts lead. Jonglertrakul won the fifth point, beating Wilson on court No. 4, 6-3, 6-3, leaving Napadiy to earn the final point for the Minutewomen, 6-2, 6-0, downing Boggiali.Â
UMass tennis returns to action tomorrow, Sunday Feb. 5, as they take on Fairfield at 1 p.m. at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center.
