NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The University of Massachusetts men's soccer team won its third consecutive game to remain unbeaten with a 4-2 win at Central Connecticut State on Wednesday evening. The Minutemen (3-0-1 Overall) have outscored their opponents by nine goals during the last three contests.

Alec Hughes scored his second and third goals of the season in a 31-second stretch in the game's opening five minutes. The junior netted the game's first goal just over four minutes in with a right-footed penalty kick into the left side of goal. Hughes followed up with his second of the night moments later, deflecting a clearance from the CCSU goalkeeper to the far post before finding the back of goal from a tough angle.
Â
Alex Brown picked up his first collegiate goal in the 40th-minute to put UMass on top 3-0. Tommy Case started the action with a pass from the middle of the field to Mike Willis on the left wing, who found Brown on his run for a first touch shot.
Â
The Blue Devils scored in the final seconds of the first half to make it a 3-1 contest in favor of the Minutemen heading into the locker room for halftime before adding their second and final goal in the 72nd-minute.
Â
Andrew Ortiz added the fourth goal for the Minutemen in the 58th-minute off Willis' second assist of the night. Willis found Ortiz down the right side for a right-footed shot into goal to give UMass a then 4-1 advantage.
