Lodge Leads UMass Track And Field At Multi-Meet

Four individuals were in action for the Minutewomen and Minutemen across the two-day competition.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts track and field hosted a two-day Multi-Meet, which wrapped up on Thursday and featured competitors from UMass, Dartmouth, Vermont and WPI. Elizabeth Lodge was the top finisher for the Maroon & White, taking second in heptathlon with a score of 4,480.
Lodge was victorious in high jump, clearing 5 feet, 5 inches (795 points) and 800 meter run in 2 minutes, 30.82 seconds (683 points), while she was the runner-up in 100 meter hurdles in 14.97 seconds for 846 points. She took third in javelin (80'8", 375 points) and 200 meter dash (26.97, 714 points) fourth in long jump (16'4.5", 557 points) and Fifth shot put (31'10.25", 510 points).
Heather Kurland and Katelyn Gorgenyi landed fifth and sixth in the field of six competitors with scores of 3,566 and 3,415, respectively. Gorgenyi claimed second in 200 meter dash (26.27 ,774 points) third in 100 hurdles (15.04, 836 points) and third in shot put (33'2", 537 points). Kurland's best showing came in the 800 meter run, as she crossed the finish in second with a time of 2 minutes, 32.89 seconds for 657 points.
In decathlon, Mason Miller was the lone competitor for the Minutemen and placed sixth with a score of 5,284 points. His best performance of the meet came in 110 meter hurdles where he was second with a time of 16.29 seconds for 700 points.
