Tennis Takes Down Army, St. Bonaventure In Saturday Doubleheader

The Minutewomen defeated Army, 4-0, and St. Bonaventure, 6-1.
WEST POINT, N.Y, – University of Massachusetts tennis grabbed a pair of victories at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center on Saturday in a doubleheader. UMass defeated Army, 4-0, before winning 6-1 over Atlantic 10 foe St. Bonaventure.
At Army, the Minutewomen got out to a quick start, notching the doubles point. Duo Mariya Kraskova and Vitoria Okuyama defeated Justine Dondonay and Carolyn Ahn of Army, 6-2, at No. 2, while Anna Napadiy and Renata Farima won, 6-2, on court No. 3 over Army's Sophie McKenzie and Anna Loureiro.
In singles play against the Black Knights, Danielle Hack finished first at No. 3 for UMass to earn the team's second point of the match, defeating Jenna Sabile of Army, 6-2, 6-1. Farima grabbed the third point for the Minutewomen with a 6-3, 6-0 triumph over Army's Elizabeth Gilbert at No. 1, before Krasakova took the match point, winning 6-4, 6-3, against Loureiro of Army on court No. 5.
Napadiy, Polina Akimova and Okuyama went unfinished on courts No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6, respectively.
Against the Bonnies, Massachusetts picked up wins on both No. 2 and No. 1 doubles to earn the point. The duo of Napadiy and Farima recorded a 6-0 victory over Anastasia Gubanova and Emily Stanley of St. Bonaventure, before Krasakova and Okuyama defeated St. Bonaventure's Andrea Roque and Amelia Haley, 6-2.
Farima started off singles competition with an early 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Haley of St. Bonaventure at No. 1, while Dylan Cannon notched the third point for the Minutewomen with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6 over Amara Young of St. Bonaventure. St. Bonaventure's Floor Lissone earned the Bonnies lone point of the match after winning 6-2, 6-1 over Krasakova at No. 4. Hack defeated Gubanova of St. Bonaventure, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 2, and Okuyama won 7-5, 6-1 over St. Bonaventure's Stanley on court No. 5. Akimova sealed the deal for UMass after defeating Alexandra Jansson of St. Bonaventure, 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 at No. 3.
UMass will open its home slate with a match up with Rutgers on Saturday, February 12, at 1 p.m., at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center.
