AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts men's basketball team heads to Rhode Island for a Saturday afternoon matchup against its border rival. The Minutemen take on the Rams at 2 p.m. on ESPN+.

Border Rivals
The Minutemen are 2-0 against their border rivals in Rhode Island dating back to last season. UMass won both matchups against the Rams a season ago, including a 75-63 win on the road at the Ryan Center to mark the first Minuteman sweep of Rhode Island since the 2013-14 campaign.

Sharpshooters
The Minutemen rank seventh nationally in 3-point field goal percentage at .396 and rank 11th in the country and first in the Atlantic 10 in 3-point field goals per game with 10.3. UMass leads the league in total 3-point field goals made and sits at 23rd nationally with 207. The Minutemen have five active players shooting 40-percent or better from range, led by Rich Kelly (.510), Greg Jones (.433), Noah Fernandes (.417). Rich Kelly leads the A-10 in 3-point percentage while Fernandes and C.J. Kelly rank 11th and 13th respectively among league leaders.

Comeback Kids
UMass has rallied back from down double digits to win in five games this season after most recently storming back from down 16 points with just over 15 minutes to go on Wednesday at La Salle. The Minutemen also came back from down 17 in wins over Harvard and Rutgers and from down 13 points against both UMBC and UNC Greensboro.

From The Line
UMass averages 20.5 free throws per game and is shooting just under 75-percent from the stripe on the year. The Minutemen have attempted 26 or more free throws in seven games with 20 or more in 10 contests. UMass ranks second in the Atlantic 10 in both free throw attempts and free throws made and ranks 53rd nationally in made free throws.

Exclusive Company
Rich Kelly became the 11th active DI player with 1,500 or more career points and 500 or more career assists as he recorded his 500th career assist in the home win over the Billikens. Kelly ranks 29th in career assists among active leaders and has made the 32nd-most 3-point field goals with 277 in his career. The graduate is also inside the top-50 in total points with 1,648.

The Commonwealth Kid
Noah Fernandes leads the Minutemen in both scoring and assists and ranks 24th nationally in assists per game at 5.2. The junior holds a 2.24 assist to turnover ratio to rank 59th among national leaders and third in the A-10. Fernandes has posted scoring outputs of 18 or more in seven games and finished in double figures in 14-of-16 contests.
