Bettiol is heading to his home country after a strong graduate season in Amherst

AMHERST, Mass. – Recent UMass men's basketball graduate Leonardo Bettiol has signed a contract in his home country of Italy, with A.S. Pistoia Basket 2000, as announced this week. A native of Roncade, Italy, Bettiol was named a second team All-MAC honoree in his only season in the Maroon and White in 2025-26.

Also an NABC Second Team All-District member, Bettiol led the Minutemen in scoring (18.1) and rebounding (7.8), marks that were good for fourth and third in the MAC, respectively. His 61.1 field goal percentage also led the conference and is good for 20th nationally, while he was also sixth in the MAC with seven double-doubles.

Bettiol reached double-figure points in all but three games this season, including in 17 straight to end the season. In conference games, Bettiol finished fourth in the MAC in scoring (18.6) and fifth in rebounding (7.6). Bettiol eclipsed 20 points on 16 occasions, including 32 in an overtime win over Bowling Green. He had 25 points and eight rebounds in the MAC Quarterfinal win over Miami (OH) and 21 points the following game against Toledo.
