Tennis Wins Fifth Straight With 7-0 Sweep Over Seton Hall

The Minutewomen host Holy Cross on Sunday, February 27, at Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis team picked up its fifth consecutive victory on Saturday afternoon, taking down Seton Hall University, 7-0, at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center. The Minutewomen improve to 5-2 overall this season, as the Pirates fell to 5-3 on the year.
UMass collected wins on courts No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, to solidify the doubles point. Danielle Hack and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul paired up at No. 2, defeating Chloe Hamlin and Aina Plana Ventosa of Seton Hall, 6-1. On court No. 3, duo Renata Farima and Dylan Cannon secured the point for the Minutewomen with a 6-2 victory over Seton Hall's Hiba El Khalifi and Oliwia Kempinski. The match between Mariya Krasakova and Vitoria Okuyama, and Arina Gumerova and Arabella Moen of Seton Hall went unfinished at No. 1.
Farima got off to a rapid start in singles competition, winning 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 over Seton Hall's Gumerova, before Polina Akimova took down El Khalifi of Seton Hall 6-0, 6-1, at No. 3. At No. 4, Krasakova notched her own singles point, after winning 6-0, 6-3 over Seton Hall's Kempinski, to make it a 4-0 match. Hack defeated Moen of Seton Hall, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 2, while Okuyama came out on top with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at No. 5 singles against Seton Hall's Emily O'Donovan to seal the deal for UMass.
Cannon automatically won her match by default at No. 6.
Massachusetts returns to the courts Sunday, February 27, to take on Holy Cross at 1 p.m., at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center.
