7-0 Sweep Over Holy Cross Aids Tennis To Sixth Straight Victory

The Minutewomen earned their third consecutive 7-0 sweep in as many matches.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis team swept the College of Holy Cross, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center, collecting its sixth consecutive triumph of the season. The sweep also marks the third straight in as many matches for UMass, as the Minutewomen improve to 6-2 overall this season.
Maassachusetts got off to a fast start, winning the doubles point on the day. Renata Farima and Dylan Cannon paired up at No. 3, taking down Holy Cross' Caroline Fredey and Caroline Carlson, 6-0, before Mariya Krasakova and Vitoria Okuyama defeated Maddie DeNucci and Ahana Nagarkatti of Holy Cross, 6-0, at No. 1. The duo of Danielle Hack and Thamonpan Jonglertrakul won on court No. 2, 6-1, over their Holy Cross opponents, Jasmine Rahman and Elizabeth Gibbons.
Krasakova grabbed the first singles point for the Minutewomen after defeating Gibbons of Holy Cross 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. Farima extended UMass' lead to 3-0, after winning 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 over Holy Cross' DeNucci, before Hack made it a 4-0 match for Massachusetts with her 6-0, 6-0 victory over Rahman of Holy Cross on court No. 3. Polina Akimova notched her singles point after taking down Holy Cross' Nagarkatti, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2, followed by Okuyama's 6-0, 6-0 win over Meg O'Melveny of Holy Cross at No. 6. Jonglertrakul clinched the match for the Minutewomen, defeating Holy Cross' Fredey 6-0, 6-2 on court No. 5.
Massachusetts hits the road on Sunday, March 6, as the team readies for a match up at Yale in New Haven, Conn., at 1 p.m.
