Massachusetts Tennis Welcomes Seton Hall, Holy Cross To Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center

The Minutewomen host Seton Hall on Saturday and Holy Cross on Sunday at 1 p.m.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts tennis team will play host to Seton Hall University on Saturday, February 26, and to the College of Holy Cross on Sunday, February 27, at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center.
LAST TIME OUT
UMass took a break from action last weekend, after collecting a win on both Saturday, Feb. 12, against Rutgers (4-3) and Sunday, Feb. 13, versus Binghamton (7-0). The Minutewomen improved to 4-2 on the year and are 1-0 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The victory over Binghamton was the fourth consecutive win for Massachusetts.
In doubles competition, Mariya Krasakova and Vitoria Okuyama took down their Rutgers opponents, 6-2, at No.2, while Dylan Cannon and Danielle Hack won 6-4 over Rutgers on court No. 3, to clinch the double point. Against Binghamton, the duo of Krasakova and Okuyama defeated their competition, 6-1, at No. 1, before partners Anna Napadiy and Renata Farima clinched the point with a 6-3 win at No. 2. Cannon and Hack finished out their doubles match on court No. 3, defeating their Binghamton opponents 6-4.
During singles play versus Rutgers, Farima and Hack got off to quick starts, grabbing points for UMass on courts No. 1 and No. 3, respectively. After Rutgers earned a point on No. 2, Polina Akimova notched her own with a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 4 to clinch the match. Rutgers collected two more points at No. 6 and No. 5. The Minutewomen picked up wins on all six courts against Binghamton, finishing with Farima at No. 2, Akimova on No. 3, Napadiy at No. 1, Hack at No. 4, Karaskova on No. 5 and Okuyama at No. 6, respectively.
SCOUTING SETON HALL
The Pirates head into Saturday's match with a 5-2 overall record and are coming off a 6-1 triumph at Monmouth on Saturday, February 19. Seton Hall's two losses came at Army and against Bucknell.
Since the 1999 spring season, the Minutewomen and Pirates have met four times with Seton Hall leading the series, 3-1. UMass' win against Seton Hall was during the 2002 season, where they captured a 4-3 victory on the day. The last meeting between the two teams was on Feb. 20, 2005, when the Pirates won 5-2.
SCOUTING HOLY CROSS
The Crusaders enter Sunday with an overall record of 5-2. Holy Cross will play its first match of the spring season at Rhode Island on Saturday, Feb. 26, prior to competing against the Minutewomen on Sunday.
WEEKLY ACCOLADES X2
Farima has been named the A-10 Rookie of the Week twice in her career, earning the accolade in back-to-back weeks. The freshman went 4-0, going 2-0 in both doubles and singles play, to receive the honor on February 8, before collecting the award again on February 15, after posting a 2-0 record in singles play. The freshman is 5-1 in singles play, so far, this season, and 4-1 also in doubles competition, partnering with Napadiy.
